Pride (2014)

The trailer for the british film 'Pride' opens with non-diegetic sound from the Welsh choir. This immediately indicates that this film will have some connection to choirs which Wales is known a lot for.

The trailer then shows Welsh people in their daily routine, a group of people who know's everyone around them in their small communities. This represents Welsh people as jolly people who like to have a laugh with the people around them. As the trailer continues, we see how the welsh people initially react to the gay pride people arriving in community. The Welsh people first reacted to the new comers as different people who are different from what the Welsh people see everyday.
The Welsh have plenty of questions to ask to the gay pride people due to the gay pride people being something that the Welsh people don't see everyday. This is also exaggerated with the non-diegetic music, the music goes from a melodic choir which is common in the Welsh countryside to the more modern, upbeat music when "The gays have arrived". The music that follows the gay pride people could be due to the stereotype that gay people are very active and energetic, in mainstream media, gay people are seen as flamboyant. The music could also be used as these gay people have come from London which means that the music used is common music for the area that they come from. When the gay people arrive, the Welsh community act very closed minded towards the gay people and start asking questions, "I'm hoping you can clear something up about lesbians for me", to them which would be socially unacceptable in other places, this represents the Welsh community as a very closed minded society.

The trailer then showcases how gay people were treated back in the 80's, showing scenes of people throwing bricks through windows, a woman holding sign reading "burn in hell" and a variety of people swearing and verbally abusing the gay people. This represents as working class people, from the south, as a closed minded group of people, more closed minded than the Welsh. Although the Welsh were closed minded, they were more intrigued by the gay people rather than the working class people which decided to abuse the gay people and fight them because the gay people don't conform to the working class views of 'normal' people.
